This maximum towing capacity lets you tow objects such as fishing boats and small campers with ease. Every Explorer is equipped with the Class II Trailer Tow Package, so you don’t need any add-ons to start hauling.
Quick Acceleration
There are two engines available in the Explorer, and both offer quick acceleration. The base engine, which is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4, can get you to 60 mph in six seconds. You’ll need the available V6 engine to get to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. This swifter engine is standard in the ST trim and available in the Platinum, while the other trims have the base engine.
Lots of Room for Luggage
Need to travel with lots of cargo? You’ve got lots of space in the Explorer to do so. If you fold the second and third rows down flat, then you can fit 85.3 to 85.8 cubic feet worth of luggage into the vehicle. This amount of space allows you to fit around 31 carry-on suitcases into the cabin depending on the size of the suitcases. The regular cargo area, which is 18.2 cubic feet in size, holds approximately four carry-on suitcases.
Ford Digital Experience
The Explorer has a fantastic infotainment system that’s being continuously updated to stay fantastic and functional. It also has the Ford Digital Experience, which is new this year and adds a ton more features including the ability to play games and stream videos from YouTube. This Digital Experience also lets you download apps from the Google Play store, log into your Google Account to access saved maps, and do lots more that makes life more convenient.
